National Inclusion Cup

Slum Soccer National Championship is played for and by the underprivileged youth of India. A concept to change life in the slums 11 years back, where the underprivileged youth is only privileged enough to participate.

Since last ten years, Slum Soccer has transformed this tournament into a National Championship, where teams from all over the country compete and the some of players are selected to represent India in the Homeless World Cup, where 63 nations meet every year for the World Championship.

Riding high on the success at the Homeless World Cup, held in Paris in 2011, where, India won the Community Cup for the very first time- the 10th installment of the event was Bigger and Better.

This three day tournament kicked off on 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. This day is celebrated as the day of love and Slum Soccer and Krida Vikas Sanstha’s initiatives have been to spread the love and passion for football among the underprivileged children and give them the best opportunity to excel.
Mitch Albom once said, “accept who you are; and revel in it.” Based on the similar line, the participating 16 teams not only showcased their talent this tournament is a platform to find confidence to chase their dreams irrespective of the background they come from.

The representation was be from states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar, Vidharba, among many other states.
On the occasion, Vijay Barse, the Founder of Slum Soccer and the NGO who has conceptualized this project thanked the sponsors; ONGC, Abhinav Bindra Foundation, Ashok Piramal Group and Café Coffee Day who have extended their support in staging the tournament. Mr Barse also extended his thanks to the partner organizations Homeless World Cup and Street Football World.
